Representing California Trucking
Mission Statement
The California Trucking Association promotes leadership in the California trucking industry, advocates sound transportation policies to all levels of government, and works to maintain a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient California transportation goods movement system.
Past and Present
Since 1934, the California Trucking Association has been serving the trucking industry in California, and the companies that provide products and services to those companies. A critical and vital component of California’s economy, nearly 80 percent of California communities depend exclusively on trucks. Hauling 90 percent of manufactured tonnage in the state, our carrier membership ranges from individual owner-operators, to small family-owned for-hire fleets, to the world’s largest international carriers. Allied members of the California Trucking Association include businesses involved with truck and trailer sales, parts and services, insurance, legal services and all other businesses that support the trucking industry.
Since 1934, CTA has provided membership exclusive benefits that advance the long-term sustainable profitability of our motor carriers and suppliers. Those benefits include legislative and regulatory representation, advocacy, training, education, workshops, networking, leadership development and buying programs. CTA's Membership Business Solutions help to evaluate and recommend programs that assist CTA members in running their businesses with bottom-line saving benefits.
Covering the state with 11 regional Units, CTA provides local engagement and networking opportunities as well as representation before state and federal governments.
Our Policy Committees address legislative and regulatory activities that impact Safety, Security and Human Resources Policy, Highway Policy and Environmental Policy. The Kingpin Policy Committee equips CTA members to take the industry message to our elected leaders on key industry policy issues.
CTA arrives at its decisions through open debate and democratic voting. Every member, large or small, has one vote. The member exercises his or her vote at their Unit meetings, Conferences and Policy Committees. If elected to the Board or Executive Committee, the member participates in the direct governing body of the association. CTA has committed to be a high service, high benefit, and high value association. Our members receive top-quality results through an outstanding network of volunteers, our partners and a professional staff.
We encourage you to partner with us by becoming a member of the association. We provide our members with access, influence and protection. The opportunity to meet and work with your peers towards the goal of a safer, more profitable trucking industry will provide you with leadership skills that you can use in your own business. We ask for your support today to help guide this great association to a better future for California trucking.
