In developing the new format, Randall-Reilly will work closely with the California Trucking Assoication and other western-based associations to create content and attract association members. "We are excited to be a significant contributing sponsor to the new Great West Truck Show," says Mike Campbell, California Trucking Association executive vice president and chief executive officer. "With the significant changes to the venue and content, Great West will be the most relevant annual event for our industry in the West. Several local companies and agencies sponsored the "Teens and Trucks" program -- which is the first of its kind in California. The California Trucking Association says the Valley is the best place to unveil the tutorial because of the high amount of trucks on local roads.

Where did CARB get the 84 percent number? Where is the data that CARB used to calculate this fantastic number? Those are questions the California Trucking Association posed to Board members in two separate letters. The answers equate to "we are that going to tell you". In fact, CARB's regulatory filings have gone as far to say that no such data exists.

CTA executive director of external affairs Michael Shaw pointed out that in addition to criteria at the federal level used to determine worker classification, most notably through the Internal Revenue Service, a slew of California agencies have varied criteria for determining worker classification--many of which do not correlate to each other. A proper test for determining classification, Shaw said, is one of the things that needs to be discussed with Perez.

I am A Terra Nova High School senior applying for a college scholarship to the California Trucking Association. As such, they have asked that I prepare a letter for publication in my local newspaper explaining the importance of the trucking industry to this country. So I have done some research and have come up with some interesting statistics.
