"Our company had not been active in the California Trucking Association for the first 20 years of our company. However, once the snowball affects of CARB, AB 32, and started barreling down on us, we realized we needed to reengage and become active in the California Trucking Association, as it was a fight we could not fight alone. The staff at CTA have always been diligent and passionate in their efforts to represent us before the Legislature and regulatory agencies on an effort to come up with reasonable solutions. We have enjoyed being an active participant over the past 4 years, and have realized that you cannot sit back and watch things happen; you have to participate and educate yourself on what is happening."

"The threat of CARB and it aggressive regulations that were going to cost us several thousands of dollars in retrofit compliance emerged and we got very nervous. Where are we going to come up with the capital to purchase this equipment? It can’t be financed as it does not add value to the truck. That question was soon answered by attending the environmental policy committee meetings. During those meetings there was much talk about what could be done and how we would proceed. In addition to the talk, there were presentations about how to obtain grants and other funding. Had I not been active and in attendance at those meetings I may never have heard about that program. As a result we completed the proper paperwork with the help of another CTA member and received a grant to do 17 units."

"Conducting business in California can be both overwhelming and difficult at times. The California Trucking Association helps me navigate through the continuous stream of regulations and conveys our position to our elected officials and various state agencies. Membership in the California Trucking Association has been very worthwhile and valuable."

“The CTA is like a library where you can go with an issue and find how it can be solved. The network is another great attribute for you where you can learn from your peers.”

“I joined CTA because I was tired of being road kill and not knowing what hit me. When I go to meetings, I find out about issues that will affect my business sometimes a year or two in advance. This helps me prepare for the future. Even though people thought that the new CARB regulations would not go thru, CTA was talking about this issue 4 or 5 years ago. I started adjusting my payment schedule almost 2 years before the December 2008 CARB meeting. Everybody was surprised and mad at the ruling when CTA had been preparing us in advance. Members will talk at meetings about their issues which can help prevent me from having to go thru the same thing. CTA can help members when it comes to dealing with the CHP and DMV. CTA has a good relationship with both entities.”
