Mission Statement
The California Trucking Association promotes leadership in the California motor carrier industry, advocates sound transportation policies to all levels of government, and works to maintain a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient California transportation goods movement system.
The California Trucking Association has been serving the businesses that operate trucks in California and the companies that provide products and services to those companies for over 75 years. Our members transport 85% of the shipments that travel on California's highways each day. Our membership ranges from the self-employed owner-operator and one-person consulting firm, to the large international motor carriers and truck manufacturers and interstate legal firms.
Since 1934, CTA has provided membership exclusive benefits that advance the long-term sustainable profitability of our motor carriers and suppliers. Those benefits include legislative and regulatory representation, advocacy, training, education, buying programs, public relations, image enhancement, workshops, networking, and leadership development.
Covering the state with 12 regional Units, CTA provides local engagement and networking opportunities as well as representation before state and federal governments. The association also encompasses several specific sub-industry Conferences that develop policy for Intermodal Carriers, Agriculture, Heavy Specialized, Bulk Carriers, Petroleum Tank Truck, Refrigerated Carriers, Heavy-duty Tow and Hay & Forest Products.
Our Policy Committees address legislative and regulatory activities that impact Safety, Security and Human Resources Policy, Highway Policy and Environmental Policy. CTA's Membership Services Policy Committee evaluates and recommends programs that assist CTA members in running their businesses with bottom-line saving benefits. The Kingpin Policy Committee equips CTA members to take the industry message to our elected leaders on key industry policy issues. CTA’s Public Relations and Image Committee is committed to develop programs that improve the public perception of the California trucking industry.
CTA arrives at its decisions through open debate and democratic voting. Every member, large or small, has one vote. The member exercises his or her vote at their Unit meetings, Conferences and Policy Committees. If elected to the Board or Executive Committee, the member participates in the direct governing body of the association.
CTA has committed to be a high service, high benefit and a high value association. Our members want top quality results from CTA in all our programs, and this includes business programs as well as legislative and regulatory activities. Our members receive top-quality results through an outstanding network of volunteers, endorsed program partners and a professional staff.
We encourage you to become a member of the association. You will gain your dues back through the savings you enjoy in the endorsed programs. The opportunity to meet and work with your peers towards the goal of a safer, more profitable trucking industry will provide you with leadership skills that you can use in your own business. We need you to help guide this great association to a better future for California trucking.
