The purpose of the Driver of the Month awards is to recognize the men and women that our industry is built upon. This program is intended to identify and honor drivers who have displayed a high degree of excellence during their driving career.
The process begins with a CTA member company nominating a driver.
The application outlines the candidate’s driving experience lifetime mileage, vehicle accidents or industrial injuries. Also included for consideration is their participation in truck driving championships, company safety programs, civic, fraternal or church activities, etc. In other words, the application form gives a history of the individual, both at work and at home.
These nomination forms are then presented to an independent panel of judges, comprising of members from the:
The selection panel meets 2 times a year to review and evaluate all nominations. Before the panel sees the forms, the names of drivers and companies are removed to ensure that each candidate and their company remain anonymous.
The panel then selects the Driver of the Year from the winners of the Driver of the Month award.
The program culminates with an awards banquet for the Northern drivers and another for the Southern drivers where we recognize each month’s winning drivers and salute each person and their companies for their accomplishments. The night is also filled with great excitement and anticipation as the Driver of the Year honor is revealed for the first time and bestowed upon the unknowing recipient.
